Subject:How do I control Sound Forge volume output when editing ACID

I use Sound Forge 5.0 to edit ACID files. The ACID output levels are in the green and not clipping. When I edit the ACID files in SForge 5.0 the output levels are red and clipping, so I have to turn down the volume. What am I doing wrong? Does this happen to anyone else? I use an Echo MIA soundcard. Thanks.

The files are probably clipping to begin with. ACID usually applies a cut to the volume of the file when you've added a track to a project. (I believe the default is -6.0 dB. This value is dictated by the Preview fader in ACID.) Sound Forge deals with the file in its original volume.

Does the file look like it might be clipping? A telltale sign is flat, consistent plateaus at the top and bottom of the audio waveform when zoomed out.
