Can the pitch of an imported wav file be shifted? I only get the pitch shift option grayed out when I try to pitch shift my imported wavs. Thanks! |

If your imported waves are set as one-shots this may be the problem. They should either be looped or beatmapped and the root note set to something other than "not transposing" ie C4 etc. Sorry, this is off-hand as I do'nt have Acid on this PC |

I did try changing the setting from "don't transpose", but that did not allow me to pitch shift. I also am trying to shift a wav which has been beatmapped. It looks like you can only pitch shift loops, and not imported wavs, unless I am missing something. |

Hm, both loops and beatmapped tracks are "pitch-shiftable", although the formants of the beatmapped tracks will shift as well. That is what gives you the Mickey Mouse-effect on vocals. Did you select the properties of the track in Acid, mark it as either loop or beatmapped (depending on the length),select the original root-note and save? This whole procedure is neccessary. You can also select the wave in the explorer, Acid will then show the wave's characteristics; loop/one-shot/beatmapped, tempo, root note etc. if any info is missing you need to input that into the file using the above process or importing it into Sound Forge/SF XP. -------------------- Back after some testing. It appears that sometimes beatmapped files have an option for pitching the wave in semitones greyed out (using properties in Acid), one of my files suffered from that. I rectified it by temporarily setting the wave to loop and then back again before saving. Now the file would follow the (changed) key of the project. |

After I put a check in the properties box for "preserve pitch when stretching", i was able to pitch shift the track. I don't know why this would be the default setting for an imported beatmapped wav file. Thanks for the help! |
