Or convert to straight mono, smaller file if you do not for some reason need to have it appear as a stero-file in mono for further processing (...?)
File->Properties->Format (I think), then choose the channel/mix you would like.

I suppose you've never used a computer before this also? Try selecting all of the left channel and dragging it into the Right channel. It's a simple select, cut, paste operation, the same as in every Microsoft or any other PC program in the world.

Brian -
that doesn't work in Sound Forge. If this is a stereo file, you have to select the left channel (move the cursor into the left channel until it has a little "l" next to it) and triple. This selects the whole file. Now copy that data by hitting ctrl-C on the keyboard (or Edit-->copy). Now select the right channel in the same way as described for the left. Right click on the selected area and select "Overwrite" (or edit-->paste special-->overwrite). This will copy the data from the clipboard over the selection. Drag and drop does not work within a stereo file in Sound Forge. If you have Vegas, you can do this easily as well, but I won't complicate matters here with that.

Now, if the file is mono to begin with, you would need to use the channel converter feature to make it stereo. But it won't really be stereo, so it's not really worth while. So, you could also just copy the left channel to a new file and make it a mono one.

those are your options.

You're right..my bad. Thanks Charles.

You can do a select ALL in the Left channel and COPY and then position your cusor in the right channel and do a "Paste Special" and select "MiX" and then when the menu pops up select "right only".
