Subject:Normalizing Complete CD Tracks

I have 15 current tracks for a new CD, and used Sound Forge to add effects and processes. Some of the tracks are louder than others, some softer. Can I use Sound Forge to make all the tracks the same level? If not, how do I do this? A friend at work said it might be done with the Batch Converter.

Thanks

You could normalize in the batch converter...that's a start.... BUT, the apparent loudness you hear and what the digitized levels are vary some. So your probably going to want to listen the songs...at least the transitions, then manually fine tune the levels with the volume tool to match.
This is one of the reasons we need mastering engineers.

After getting the files as close to the same volume as I can get it, I burn with cd-arch or vegas. With these programs, using volume envelopes, I can raise or lower the volume on individual tracks as needed to even out the differences.

I was mis understanding what db level meant I guess. I thought if this was SET at a certain number, then EVERYTHING that you record at that level will be the same. Yes or no?

I don't understand what your asking Midigal. As in normalizing?
db is an abreveation for decibel. Program levels vary widly. A recording level is only a reference, as in: -18db or 0VU.
