Subject:Making Acid tracks sound more human...

Years ago on the Amiga I used a program called Bars and Pipes from Blue Ribbon Bakery (anyone remember that?). It was Midi and I used it with a Kawai K4. One of my favorite features of that program was a little plug that made the track sound less mechanical, I think it was called quantize or unquantize or something. For example it would take a drum track of hits and slightly make them a little off so they did not sound like a machine, more human. My question is, does Acid do that? Is there a feature already in there? Or..any suggestions on how to recreate this option? It really helped compositions when I did it way back when, it would be great to do it in Acid. Thanks! If you're using One-shot type tracks, you can also try turning snapping off (F8 on your keyboard) and slightly move random events around. (Alternatively, click on an event and hold down SHIFT to temporarily disable snapping.) Iacobus |

Bars & Pipes, what a blast from the past! you can change the 'start offset' (under properties) to help 'humanize' your tracks. it won't change the timing within a loop, but you can offset different loops. not quite the same thing, but it does help somewhat. |

Thanks for all the tips...I was aware of them and these are good suggestions, although I am looking for an effect that can be applied to a track. Just clicked on. I am surprised that there is not something like this already. Does any other company make plug-ins that can be used with Acid? The effect I am looking for is easier to have in a midi program I am sure, but it should work just as well in a sampling system. Any other suggestions or comments are welcome! Thanks! Frank |
