Subject:I hear nothing

I'm trying to play audio out of my system. We have a Pinnacle 3000 video card. With discreet edit 6.5
With all programs closed, only sound forge 5.0 open, I can choose soundmax or Microsoft wave player. But I can not hear any output from sound forge...Whazupwidat?

What's your hardware setup? How is it connected (analog? S/PDIF? cables?)? Can you hear audio in other programs?
