What does everyone think of the quality of the three xfx packs ? Is the reverb any good in your opinion or should I go for another plugin reverb ? What about the other effects ? I'd be very interested in any comments of people who have had a chance to compare...

thanks

The effects are very good in all the XFX's but probably not the best, but they're also probably not the most expensive either. My favorite "Reverbs" in order of favorite are 1. TC Works "Native Reverb" 2. Timeworks "Reverb 4080L" 3. Waves "True Verb", 4. DSP/FX "Acoustic Verb" 5. Cakewalk's "3D Reverb"

The TC native reverb is the one I use most, it sounds like a good TC Electronics reverb, or the closest thing to a Lexicon PCM 90.

1.Waves Rverb (CPU hog, but love the way it sounds on everything)
2.Timeworks 4080L (very good all around reverb, low CPU)
3.Timeworks Reverb-X (MAJOR CPU hog over Rverb)
4.TC Works Native Reverb (pretty cool verb, low CPU)
5.Waves True Verb (this is the oldest, very good for if your looking for room environments effect and not a Reverb FX. med. CPU usage)
6.Cakewalk FX3 Sound Stage (very good one for acoustic environments, a tweakers delight and very noisy when adjusting parameters, low CPU)
7. Sonic Foundry Acoustic Mirror ( this thing is drop down KICK ASS but not good for real time fx. I've modeled some Neve 3105 preamps, Eventides, Lexicons, Focusrite etc. with this thing.)

I'm thinking of getting the Timeworks 4080. But I wonder whether it would be better to hold out for AcidPro 4 which will (hopefully) take effects as VSTi instead of just DX....

The Timeworks 4080 is my favorite.
I've stopped looking for reverbs
since I got it.
After that, I use Waves Trueverb a lot.
When I need only a touch of reverb
I often use the Sonic Foundry
reverb and it does quite well.
The Hyperprism Hyperverb can be cool
but it's really creamy and this gets
in the way sometimes.

The 4080 would be a solid purchase.
It will treat you well

The XFX packages, while not the best,
are on the whole good, and I make use
of them in every session.
