Ok, I have a secion of a song where I want to drown out everything but a vocal? Can this be done in Acid (relativeley speaking it probably can't be done 100 percent pure...), and If it can be done in Acid/Forge how do you do it? Also what purpose do noise gates serve? What of the given effects packages are best used (in most cases) to enhance Hi-NRG, Trance Music, to make remixes, some of the effects I can't figure out what they do, I don't hear any audible changes, or maybee i am not using them correctly? Thanks in advance! Mike |

To remove all but vocals: sorry, basically you can't. If the song is already mixed down to mono or stereo, everything is mixed together and nothing can separate them. If it's stereo and the voice is panned dead-center, there are some tools that supposedly will eliminate the voice somewhat. You could then subtract this from the original stereo to remove the music and keep the vocal. But, it just won't work well enough to be useful. Sorry about that. Noise gates take any part of the track that is below a certain volume and mute it. The idea is that noise will be most noticeable when nothing else is drowing it out. For example, if you have a recording of someone speaking, you'll hear the hiss of the sound system and the rumble of the ventilating fans most when the person is pausing between phrases. Assuming the noise is much quieter than the voice, a noise gate will clamp down on these parts and mute them. Usually there will be a slight delay so that some of the natural reverberation of the signal is retained for a fraction of a second or so. |
