When I use SF 5.0 to record using 24 bit, there is a clicking noise that is noticable between songs when it is quiet. This noise changes fequency depending on the sample rate. At high magnification, the display looks like the top of wall around a castle where there are equally spaced plateaus and gaps. These plateaus are .093 secs long at 44.1 khz and .042 secs long at 96.0 khz. This doesn't happen at 16 bit and also doesn't happen at 24 bit in DCart Millenium. 933 Mhz Itel P3 128 Mb ram Echo Mia sound card IDE Hard Drive |

I think I read somewhere that recording using the S/PDIF input on the Mia at 24-bit/96 KHz produces digital noise. This could be due to the drivers but I'm not sure. Could this be the same thing that's happening to you? Did you try downloading and installing the latest drivers? Iacobus |

I'm using the analog inputs so it's not a digital recording issue. |

Just read up on that problem. The article says that users have been having problems like random crackles and digital pops on the Mia's output. They say to disable the Mia console in the Systray and the pops should stop. Iacobus |

This problem only happens in Sound Forge 5.0 so I don't think it is a problem with the Mia card. I can record at 24 bits in DCart Millenium without these clicks. Also, these clicks are not random but rather very short clicks whose length are directly proportional to the sampling rate - the faster the sample rate, the faster the clicks. |
