I think n-Track Studio is more like Vegas than ACID. That being said, n-Track Studio's interface is just plain ugly in comparison to either Vegas or ACID. Iacobus |

Not Acid-compatible. Junk. All the Cakewalk products have this AND full Acid-compatibility, plus about 50 more useful bells and whistles. These Fastrack guys should have checked the market before coming out with such a POS. |

I use N-Tracks. It is far from being junk. It is as good as Cakewalk and uses VST and DX plugs and is only $60. for the 24 bit version. One of the best forums in the field as well. http://www.fasoft.com The interface is as good as any Sonic Foundry product. I have all of them. |

The point of the post was to show a product with some of the features that Acid desperately needs - which exist now at a very low price. It's relevant to see what's out there and what AcidPro 4 needs to beat. Acid has a long way to go (with MIDI and VSTi at least) before it comes close to any of the big sequencers such as VST and Logic, the medium-sized ones such as Sonar, Orion and FruityLoops and even the very low-cost N-Tracks. |

When Plasma and Home Studio 2002 exist for well under $100 with full Acid support PLUS vastly more features and content than the Acid-less N-Tracks, what's N-track's reason to live, never mind even be mentioned in these hallowed halls? We're interested in expanding Acid horizons, not shrinking them. |

N-tracks uses VST and DX plugs. And it's cool 'cause I use it. :) |

Well it's a testament to how badly SoFo's current product is out of touch with integrated reality that folks are defecting to crappy products without Acid support to get things like DXi and VST2i. Are ya listening, SoFo??? |

I heard that, Maruuk! Actually, I use Acid 3, Sound Forge, and Vegas lite. But I gotta go to sumpin else to use my heavy midi work, VST plugs and stuff. I had hoped when I bought Acid I could do all my work there, but alas, no. Lotsa good VST stuff for free out there. Not as good as ultra expensive Waves plugs, though. They kick most famously. But ya have ta fool with evil Pace protection or deal with pirates. I've tried em, they are quite superior. Too bad. N-tracks is not as bad as you might think. The new versions are a bit buggy, though, I'm not upgrading until it gets more stability. I'm getting Vegas Video soon. Wish Vegas had an audio only version that included midi. Sorry for the rambling, my brain's tired, finally got a stubborn song done. |

You said it--you can't treat midi as an afterthought anymore with all the great softsynths and samplers that are either free with apps or dirt cheap. Acid is basically a 3-year-old (great) program with a lot of make-up on to look new. But the wrinkles are showing through. Time for a major facelift. |
