Subject:how do I adjust the input levels for recording?

I remember that there's some place where you can change the pad for the input in Sound Forge, but I can't remember how to get to it. I think it's set to -20 dB by default, and I want it at 0. All my stuff sounds very small, AM radio-ish, and I know that all the levels are set right (I can hear it on my speakers just fine, but when I play back what Sound Forge records, it sounds really bad). If anyone could help me locate this feature, I would greatly appreaciate it. Thanks!

I don't recall a pad anywhere, but you can (and in fact must) adjust the levels separately for recording and monitoring. Double-click the little yellow speaker icon to get to your sound card's mixer control panel. Choose Options, Properties, Recording. Adjusting the levels here affects Sound Forge's recording level. Adjusting the levels in the Playback mixer only affects the monitoring/playback levels.

I adjusted the recording levels already. Recording sounds fine on any program except Sound Forge. I've read the manual and searched the help files, but I just can't get the recording function in Sound Forge to sound okay... =(

Open Sound Forge, click on Options, then click on Preferences, then select the tab Wave and see the Record device currently in use. Change it if needed (set it to the sound card).

Good luck
