Subject:recording crackles etc.

Acid has just started throwing in horrible crackles when recording.... It has also started telling me that my midi-out cannot allocate memory and I must be low on resources... Acid has been crashing freequently during the past three or four days. These faults are spurious.... the crackles don't happen in Sound Forge or ZeroX Beat Creator.

The only changes that I made recently to my system was freeing up about 10 gig of HD space by uninstalling games.

I've tried reinstalling Acid and Direct X 8.

Setup is Athlon 900, 256MB ram, Midiman Audiophile 24/96 & Midisport 2x2. Win98 SE
