Could anyone direct me to a site (preferably FREE) that would allow me to download loops that are simple and for newer country styles... i.e. George Strait
Good rim shots, simple 4/4 w/ snare on 2 and 4 ONLY OR on 1 and 3 only.
Thanks Again!!

I don't know if this will help, but if you've got One-shot type tracks (ACIDized samples that are designed to play only once in any given event, like a single snare hit), you can easily create what you need.

All you do is select the Paint Tool and hold down CTRL while clicking on the timeline (after setting the desired grid spacing). Of course, the only thing is that you still need the samples as you've requested.

I can't recommend anything off the bat, since I'm not exactly in that genre. Some loops in a particular collection might sit well even though it was meant for a different genre. For example, there are shakers available in the Junkyard Rhythms loop library and the Methods of Mayhem loop library has some nice snare One-shots as well.

I'm sure someone from Sonic Foundry can steer you in the right direction. Try asking.

You can get some free loops at http://www.topsitelists.com/out.cgi?area=start&user=audiosamples&nocheat=1014376257&ID=19&url=http://www.e-drummer.net/
Also there are supposed to be some 90-odd free loops at www.computermusic.co.uk
and there are some regular sites like www.peaceloveproductions.com wich feature free loops. Accoustic pop/country loops with sparse arrangements are hard to come by unfortunately. Nice libraries are Brushed/Popped/Laidback/Drum Tools from Sounds Good at www.primesounds.com and Drum Necessities/Chameleon Drums from www.sonicstop.com

There are some nice multi-track libraries appearing like www.multiloops.com and www.discretedrums.com and soon from www.reeldrums.com. These cost a bit, but give you better control over you drum-mix than regular drumloops. Usually they have separate tracks for kick, snare, overhead L-R,toms etc, normally 6-8 tracks per loop.
Discrete Drums are not acidized and all their loops include the 1st beat of the next measure so there is a certain amount of work involved in transforming these.
Multiloops are in the process of acidizing their libraries, I have been commisioned to do some work for them in that regard.

Hope this helps
Erik

http://www.smartloops.com/ - yeah, it costs a few bucks, but really I can't say enough about this collection. A wide variety of styles and beats, one shots with the same tonal qualities, great rolls, various percussion samples, corrosponding MIDI files and soundfonts of all the hits! Only the 100bpm loops are Acidized, but because the quality is high you can easily Acidize the others.

Drum Tools from Sonic Foundry is also a solid collection, but in my experience it can sometimes be a pain getting the tonal qualities of various loops to match up and sound like they were all played by the same drummer.

Thank you eric,
A wealth of information. I guess from everything I've seen, country and western music is kinda low on the list as far as having loops made for Acid. I do own the SF version of their country loops but even that is very limited. Hopefully in time, there will be more free loops made. I'm out of $$$ ;*)
