I have Sound Forge 5.0 XP currently and have used this to create some ACIDised loops for use in ACID 3.0 Pro. Whilst they work OK at their original pitch, if transposed upwards by say 5 or 7 semitones, they start to get all broken up and basically sound crap. Would I get any benefit out of moving up to the full version of Sound Forge 5.0 where things like markers are available for editing? >;o)) |

Drum loops can be made to play a far bit around their original tempo. Instrument tracks will have a formant problem (chipmunk sound) whenever you transpose just a few semitones.Sound Forge in itself will not help with that other than allowing you to use DX-plugins. You could use a pitch-plugin to raise or lower the pitch while keeping the formants ("sound") of the instrument/vocal. I have done this raising vocals 3-5 semitones using a Wave pitch-shift wich adequate results. You probably need to do this on selected parts on your wave, one at a time. This because the algorithms/setup of the plugin may have to be different for the different parts of your wave. Always pre"view" before processing. Hope this helps Erik |
