Subject:Recording Input Problem

I'm running a mono line from the output of a portable cassette deck to line in of my computer...but I'm only seeing recording input on left channel. Nothing on the right.
Shouldn't both channels be going, even if it's in mono? Do I need to adjust a setting. I have version 4.5 and it works fine on that.

The line input on your sound card is a stereo jack. If you're using a mono-mono cable, then only the left and shield conductors will get signal; the right conductor will be shorted to the shield at the sound card. If you're using a stereo-stereo cable, then the right conductor won't be touching anything at the tape deck.

Once you've recorded, use "Save As" to save your file as mono. Or better yet, when you record, create the new file as mono to begin with.
