Subject:PLEASE HELP ME!!

For starters here is my set up. I have Acid 3.0, a mic and audio buddy (its a preamp for the mic) I have the mic plugged in to the audio buddy and the audio buddy connected to the mic input on my pc. <---This is the correct way. Now, here's the question. When I record in Acid everything works fine, except, when I plug my headphones into the output jack on my pc and record. I can hear the music track but I can't hear my voice while I am speaking into the mic, even though acid is recording my voice and when I play it back it plays back fine. i just can't hear it in the headphones while I'm recording. PLEASE HELP. thanks in advance for reading this and responding.

Check your sound card's playback mixer and make sure the mic is selected there.

The audio buddy is a preamp and plugs into the sound card's mic input???? Sounds pretty weird to me. Usually the purpose of using a preamp is so that you can plug in to the line input instead. But, whatever works, i suppose.

What is the "line input"?
