when ripping certain cd's I noticed that soundforge 5 clips the audio..how do i keep it from clipping??? obviously adjusting the volume inputs will not work , because it's extracting it digitally.. HELP!! |

Ripping CDs into Sound Forge is basically a file copy. What you see on the screen is what was on the CD. My guess is that the CD has the same clips in it too. |

What you think is clipping is probably heavy compression. It's being used a lot nowadays, as dynamic range is sacrificed for louder, punchier music. |

Porkjelly is correct. Most commercial CDs have their levels boosted in such a way using compression and limiting that the wave looks like it's clipping but usually isn't. What this does is destroy the dynamics for the sake of trying to get the CD as loud or louder than the next guy. Actually, you can do the same thing with the Wavehammer tool in SF 5.0. |
