Absolutely!

Open up the sound card's mixing control panel (double-click on the yellow speaker icon in the lower right corner), Select Options, Properties, Recording. There will be a list of available inputs. Scroll down the list and look for one that says something like "Mixed Output" or "What You Hear", and make sure there's a checkmark next to it. Click OK. You will now see the recording mixer. Select the "Mixed Output" or "What You Hear" control and set it to mid-scale to start with. Sound Forge (or any other sound recording application) will now record whatever you hear from your computer speakers.

thank you. i have gone to my recording control as you stated, however i don't see a mixed input, or the like. i see: midi, cd audio, line-in, microphone, pc speaker

i'm guessing i choose pc speaker, but i want to make sure that's what i use.
thanks!

That sounds like it might work. Of course, you can always try this in advance of the event to see if it works or not. Practice is good on the technical side as well as on the performance side. :)

I'm using the SB Live! card / Creative Surround mixer, (Win98) - works excellent for recording streams. It takes a little experimentation to get the right patches...
In Windows:
Wave/Direct Sound (as well as master control) checked on in the play control, input is set "WAV/Direct Sound" & "record audio".
In Sound Forge:
Options => Preferences => Wave to set playback & record patch.
