Subject:No line level

I am attempting to record from a minidisk recorder/ player going into the line input on my sound card. Running ME. I hear playback through the speakers connected to the soundcard no problem but get no levels to record. I have been though everything twice and am totally stumped.

Did you check the mixer input levels for Recording for your soundcard? There are separate controls for recording inputs and monitoring/playback inputs. Open up the sound card's mixer control panel (double click the yellow speaker icon), select Options, Properties, Recording, OK. You will now see the input controls for recording. Select Line and set the volume to mid-scale to start with.
