Please help, my acd file won't open/load... -ACID Product Family

Subject:Please help, my acd file won't open/load... Posted by: townandcountry Date:3/11/2002 2:44:34 PM I was working on a project in acid, and the program froze and I had to end the task. Now whenever I try to open that acd file, I get this message: "An error occurred while loading the project file untitled3.acd The item was not found" If I try to open the "untitled3.acd-bak" file which is in the same directory, the same thing happens. There is something which caught my attention though - there is a new file in that directory called "untitled3.acd.tmp" This file seems to have appeared at the same time the error occurred, and now sits in the directory with the file which does not work. I had a similar experience with another acid project file (the program froze and now it won't work), and the same thing happened there too - there is now an "acd.tmp" file sitting in the project's directory. Can someone please help me recover these files?? I hope there is a way.

Reply by: dbombay1 Date:3/14/2002 1:18:56 AM I've been having the same problem. acid has started to freeze on me and then when I re-boot the project I was working on won't open (same message as yours. I've e-mailed tech support and have not figured this one out yet. I'll keep you posted if something happens. Let me know if you figure something out. Wish I could help but I'm baffled too. I'm using Win98SE and Acid 3.0f on but this started happening a vew versions ago.

Reply by: mattr_ Date:3/15/2002 7:22:45 PM I had the same problem and this is the response from Customer Support: "In ACID you have the ability to automatically make backup files when you do saves. See if you have that option checked in the Options/Preferences/General tab. If you do, go to the directory you have this project stored in and you should see something ending in .acd-BAK. If you don't find the backup there, do a search on your machine for all files ending with .acd-BAK. That is going to be the only way to recover that project. If you don't have a .BAK file, then you'll have to rebuild it, unfortunately." I have never been able to recover this particular project mattr_

Reply by: dbombay1 Date:3/16/2002 12:08:51 PM The only reply I've gotten from tech support is to download and re-install Acid 3.0f, scan disk, defrag, update all drivers. Having done all of the above I still have the same problem. Acid freezes at some point, I restart and my project won't open. Weird. I'm back to using Cubase and Vegas Video for my video scoring needs. Too bad because I really like the Acid style of loop manipulation and video intergration. Let me know if anyone finds a resolve to thier problem. dbombay1
