Please give me some recommendations!! I finally finished my first Trance mix and burn't it to a cd. When I tested it out in my truck stereo, the bass was too high and the whole thing sounded distorted. I re-adjusted the output fader to prevent the clipping and tried burning it again. The bass problems are gone, but the whole mix sounds flat and dull(not the cd quality I was expecting)Should I me messing with the TrackFX's? If so what should they be at? Can anyone help me?

Try rolling off the bass at 20 Hz on the overall mix. (Add a Paragraphic EQ to the Master FX and try out the "Remove very low and inaudible frequencies below 20 Hz" preset. Try also some compression.

ok, first thing...
1. do you have sound forge? if you do, save the acid project and bring it into sound forge to do your final editing.
a. e.q.
b. compression
c. normalization
d. and de-clipping
e. so on and so forth

2. if you dont have sound forge you can do some pretty minor editing in acid if you have the plug-ins. i would highly reccomend you getting sound forge though if you dont own it already.

i do professional remixes and make mix cd's i use acid and sound forge in conjunction. sound forge has been more than suffieicent to get my work to "red book" specs.
when i do mix cd's i save the whole acid track and bring it into sound forge. it takes a while, but it works great ( lots of information being transfered. )

hope this helps. feel free to contact me with any other questions...

I'm in no position to argue with the previous replies to your post, since I consider myself to be a gifted amateur who is still learning something new with each effort. But I would point out that compression can be either a savior or a culprit for "dull" sounding tracks, depending on the contents of your particular track. If your raw file contains tracks that you've already compressed, adding more compression during the mastering process may help or hurt. I agree that Sound Forge is a very good route for testing this out. Please note that I am answering within the specific context of your question, namely burning CDs.
