There is a way to do this, if you have an instrumental. Some artists put out CD's with a Full Mix along with an instrumental. If you mix the full mix with the instrumental mix 180 degrees out of phase, then you will be left with just the vocal. Both mixes must be matched timing wise also. Other than that, then see FAQ #6. |

Actually, the best way to do this is...well, depending on the song in question - you could write the publisher for the address of the booking agent of the artist or band of the song you want just the vocals for. Then you contact and book that act to come to you...tell them they don't have to bring the instruments. Then when they get to your house (and you pay them for the gig), shove a microphone in their face and have them redo the lyrics for you. Make sure that you have it all set up before they get there (artists get a little pissy when they have to sit around and wait). Check the levels of your mics and make sure that SoundForge is ready to record. Then, once they rerecord just the vocals of the song...and leave...TADA....perfect vocals. (Or read FAQ #6) |
