Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any software for multitrack recording software for use with a Roland VS-1680 digital console. I don't need a lot of features, since I can do editing with Sound Forge, so I basically just need something to get what's on my mixer onto my computer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you got the full version of Sound Forge 5.0 (not the Studio XP version), then you're also entitled to a free license for Vegas Audio LE 2.0. If you didn't download it yet, go to
https://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=289
and you can download it there after you enter your Sound Forge serial number. That might do what you want.

Yeah, that installed with Sound Forge. It's not the full version though, so to get full functionality, I'd have to pay the $200. Is this the best option for the money, or should I go with something like cakewalk?

Through the March 22nd you should be able to upgrade to Vegas 3 for $149.99. At that price it's an incredibly good deal.

But, i was suggesting Vegas Audio LE because you said you didn't need many features. What do you need that it doesn't do? It's actually got quite a bit of power.

My main goal is to get something that will sinchronize with my mixer in a master/slave kind of set-up. Since the console has 16 tracks, it would be nice if the program could handle 16 as well (this isn't totally necessary...I'm MOST interested in easy data transfer from mixer to computer).

Vegas!!

Especially since you have/use SoundForge 5 - my suggestion, stick with the SF Family o'products. (Geez, sounds like I do marketing for SF!!!) Don't want to tell you how to spend your buckage...but it's worth it.
