How many long tracks can Acid handle ? I'm about to buy AcidPro and a new PC and am wondering what sort of performance I can expect. If, say, your song is four minutes, can you have two or three long (eg 3 minute) tracks, or 20 or what ? Obviously it depends on your card and PC, but can someone post what they're running as a guide - it'd be much appreciated.

And does it make any difference if you record one long track and then use the chopper to chop out dozens of small chunks on that single track; or is it better to record each little bit on a sperate track ?
thanks for your thoughts

yes, acid can handle as many "full length" tracks as you want. you gotta remember, when you insert a track that is a complete song, it is run from your hard disk, not memory. and wether you chop songs in the track or separately in sound forge, it shouldnt matter. i use an amd athlon 600 mhz and 256 mb ram. it runs fine. ive made complete cd's ( 12 - 18 songs ) all from acid.
hope this helps. more questions, feel free to email em djmarcarot123@aol.com
good luck.

I agree. I've too done complete CD's from acid....put together ACD files with well over 30 "tracks" - multiple event starts, as well as create all my remixes in Acid.

The longest remix I have done to date in Acid has been 32 minutes (but I have a HUGE hard drive and tons of RAM...but acid runs mostly off of physical memory not my RAM).

I only take stuff into SoundForge when it is close to being completed (and mixed down to 2 tracks), or if I want to convert to MP3, or add some last minute effects. Also, some of the work I do has lyric content that I don't want my kids to hear...so I bring it into SoundForge and just reverse that portion of the audio (kinda a "self censor").

Hope that helps.
