I just wanted to know if SF 5.0 is a wav editor. I know it maybe a stupid question. I want to be able to master the music I make on my own. Would SF able to help me do that? If not what should I buy.

Yes, Sound Forge can edit many audio file formats and has some great mastering capabilities. Download a trial version from here.
