Subject:Can't Install Acid 3 HELP!!!

Just bought a boxed version of Acid 3 and when I try to instal it I get the "this program has performed an illegal opperation" message. I re-installed Windows 98 and am in touch with the support staff at Sonic Foundry (who have been great and very pacient), but as yet nothing, I have all required specs, So any ideas or solutions please help as this has cost me loads and I really, really need it to work! cheers,

first question...how old is your computer? if its newer, i would try picking up norton utilities. there is a registry "cleaner" in it. what might be possibly wrong, is the first time you tried installing it, it wrote to your registry and something happened. well those registry marks are still there. if you clean them out, it might help. i had a similar problem and using norton, drastically helped.
