When I'm recording audio tracks in Acid Pro, I often encounter this situation: I have a few tracks of audio down, and I go to record another. The cursor is at the 0:00:00 position, and I've specified recording "FROM START OF PROJECT". But when I start recording, the playback starts somewhere a few measures into the project! So when I record, the newly recorded track is not synchronized with the tracks that I've already recorded. How do I stop this from happening? |

Charlie, What sound card are you using for playback and recording? |

Im having the exact same problem Running the following: Windows XP Echo Layla 24 latest version of echo audio WDM drivers 6.01 Acid Pro 3.0f Ive got multiple tracks imported into a new file. When I playback the tracks everything is fine. The display in acid matches exactly what Im hearing. As soon as I hit record it plays back the recorded tracks 3 or 4 seconds before the location of the cursor. When record is hit the audio tracks that are playing back are out of sync with whats displaying at the cursor?!?! This is also where it places the newly recorded file, about 3 or 4 seconds before the actual location i started recording at. I did not have this problem with my set up when i was running WIndows 98 at all. Acid rocked then. Now it seems under XP with WDM drivers all hope of a productive session is gone :( Windows XP is by far superior to 98 and I truly wish I could utilize Acid within it. help us acid!!!! |

The position of the playback cursor can be off if there are problems getting the current playback position from the sound card's drivers. Have you installed the latest drivers for the Audigy from http://www.soundblaster.com? As for the Echo card, I have not yet heard of this issue under XP. The same rules apply in this situation, but updated drivers are a bit further between with the Echo stuff, and I expect that only one set of XP drivers have been released so far. Still, redownloading them from http://www.echoaudio.com and reinstalling them clean may help the situation. |

Hrmmm Currently Echo Audio is on their second release of drivers for XP. I did a complete unintall and reinstall of the latest drivers and still have the same issue. The cursor position does not represent what I hear in record mode. Again this only happens in record mode. I also tried a repair installation of Acid with no better results. I also run Cakewalk on the same system and don't have any problems with it syncing audio tracks in record mode. ?! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks! |

Another note on this issue. It doesnt happen all the time. Essentially the first take after opening acid works fine. Upon the second take and from then on is where the problems with sync arise. It almost seems like with every additional take the sync gets further and further out. Good news though... I seem to have found a work around that resolved the problem, at least for me it seems to have. I uninstalled Acis 3.0f and reinstalled Acid build 189. Now I have no problem when I select record. Everything stays in perfect sync. Ive only run a few tests but plan to do some more later on. So far so good. ??!!! Kinda crazy |
