Subject:Acid 3 Demo won't recognize or open loops

I just installed the Acid 3.0 demo. The program opens as expected, but it doesn't recognize .WAV loops! In the first place, I have to right-click on the Acid explorer window and select "View all files" before WAV files will show up at all. When I single-click a loop, it doesn't preview. When I double-click a loop to add it to a project, Acid tells me "This file cannot be added to ACID projects. The file type may not be supported." Huh? I've got Windows ME, 128MB RAM, gigabytes of free disk, an SB Live! sound card. I updated the DirectX 8, but that doesn't make any difference. I installed the demo from the CD included with Sams "Teach Yourself ACID 3.0 in 24 Hours." Has that got something to do with it? What's going on here? I scanned the FAQs before I posted here, but I didn't see anything relating to my problem. Any help would be appreciated.

That's a strange one. First, I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Otherwise, do a search for wavplug.dll on your machine(installed to C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\Shared Plug-ins\File Formats by default), then drag 'n drop it onto the open ACID window to register it.

I already had uninstalled and reinstalled, actually. Your suggestion worked, however. I did have to reboot after dropping the DLL, but as I say it worked. I'm not sure why the problem developed in the first place, unless it's because I've been downloading a bunch of evaluation versions of various audio and midi production tools to try out. Maybe that confused things. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.
