I'm going to start a audio forensics tutorial series, a repair of an audio track. What I needing to know is, if you do basic wav file editing and you don't change the sample rate or bit depth, when saving the wav file, does SF Re-Dither the audio file? Thanks! |

Are you referring to some "Legal" processing ? - I don't comprehend the term "Forensics" Surely any re-rendering causes changes ( Otherwise why do it? ), although shortening a clip might be one reason, of course. But wouldn't you want to Save it in the Same format? . . . . OR are you suggesting that even this will introduce unwelcome changes? . . . . clearly this is something I may need to know / understand before we all go Magix-nuts. I Use SF Studio10. Forget the FORENSICS part, as you haven't answered my question. I understand processing makes changes. What I asking is if the bit rate stays the same and bit depth, does SF use dithering on the resulting file? Message last edited on7/27/2016 5:00:19 PM byBRPelfrey. |

Dithering occurs when the bit depth changes. That is your answer for wav (only). |
