difference between WaveLab & CDArchitect

while i can use cd architect cause my burner can burn up to 12x still (creative ide) i have to edit the wave into sf5, i hate that, so as i posted here long ago i opted for steinberg wavelab, but after some time working with it, i realize that many, many ppl that i work with was complaining, because the cd that i made (filters, assignable fx, mastering, editing,.....Burn) with wavelab does not work with every cd player (specially with older ones) so now, after paying steinberg for their product, im once again burning at full speed with cdarchitect, so i finally know why a lot of ppl are still complaining about SoFo decicions, and i have to say now, that the worst thing you did sofo was the rip of cdarchitect, as a plus you ripped from sf5, you are delirious
PD: Are you sofo team on drugs? :)

We completely see the valid point that you have made, and many others have been saying the same thing over the course of the last two years. However, one of the main reasons why CD-A was Discontinued was due to the overall popularity of the software. We hate to say it, but not many people were interested in creating/editing/mastering audio cd's at a professional level. Even now, people are more concerned with selecting all their files and pressing burn - a two-step process. Another determining factor was that every drive we wanted to support, needed to written into the code of the software. When you have limited resources for a development team, a product that isn't selling, and the need to introduce newer, updated versions of your other software, some thing has to give. Unfortunately, it was CD-Architect. If you would be interested in our Vegas Video 3.0, we have now introduced the CD Mastering capabilities of CD-A right on the time line now. For more information on this updated version of VV3.0, check here - http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/NewShowProduct.asp?PID=612

CD Arch doesn't wreck your computer when you install it. Wavelab 4 crashed my computer to the point it needed reformatted due to the fact my cd-rom drives (Pioneer A03 & Plextor) have error correction. After speaking to a tech at Steinberg I was told they put errors in the disc of wavelab 4 & if you have a cd-rom with error correction it will not install properly. I was told to disable error correction in plexmanager for the plextor but you can't use plex manager running xp pro. So I'm stuck with a wavelab 4 disc & no satisfaction from Steinberg. I was also told they don't care if I ever use another Steinberg product. I was told they eventually will have a patch for the people with plextor drives. So for the people complaining about cd arch, just check out the alternatives. Wavelab isn't one of them.

I understand what you are saying....but if CD Arch was not popular enough....then why is a good number of those VV3 users, formerly CD Arch users??? Why was SF so intent on selling CD Arch at $300 plus (overpriced to many and part of it's general commercial failure) and now try to push VV3, another $300 plus software to those same users. And I bet not everyone is using it for video editing (in my case...that would be a waste of cash). Makes more sense to me to simply add CDA capabilities to Sound Forge as well, than a video editing application....yeah yeah yeah....i know it does audio as well...but we all know that is secondary when it comes to marketing VV3 to the massess. If you are going to market SF 6.0 as a "mastering tool", than please for heavens sake...start listening to your customers and supporters, before you won't have anyone to sell to....ad add those tools....offering Izotope Ozone was a good start....but clearly not enough....I'll pass on SF6.0 as I was told I would have to pay for the full upgrade after I paid for the full upgrade to SF 5.0 2 1/2 months ago...I told SF customer support they were crazy and no thanks.... I rather wait to I see it at Best Buy for $99
