Another way to look at it is that you're buying an upgrade to 14 before the release and getting a free copy of 13 in the interim.

This is $50.00 less than the list price of a Vegas upgrade. Whether a better upgrade deal might come in September is anyone's guess.
John222 wrote on 6/30/2016, 5:35 AM
Apple,

Email and ask them if you can have a free upgrade. If not, sell your current copy of Vegas and purchase with new offer.

I'd be a bit suspicious of an offer where they can't even spell Vegas correctly. Where was it from (I didn't receive anything) ?

GW the spelling could be down to the OP.

I can't get my business brain around the "offer"? It doesn't make sense. Has this come from MAGIX? I can't see it.

The email came from MAGIX (Klaus -- from news@vegas.magix.net) via the "You received this email because MAGIX acquired a majority of the Sony Creative Software products. Your information and product registration was transferred to MAGIX as a result..."

At first glance it seems like an outright "buy" of Vegas 13, with free upgrade to 14, but the text of the email says "Upgrade your current version of VEGAS Pro to VEGAS Pro 13 now at an unbeatable price and receive VEGAS Pro 14 following release at the end of September 2016." The email also says "Exclusive welcome offer", so it might be this is actually an upgrade offer to existing Vegas users.

I clicked through the links several layers deep, and at one point found a screen that said "USA and Canada only" at the bottom -- but that might be due to my particular offer (I am in USA).

(I note also that "VEGAS" is in all caps everywhere it is mentioned in the email, and in the banner artwork. And yes, it is spelled correctly.)

I have a similar question as many of the others in this thread, but mine is about Vegas Pro Suite. I currently have Vegas Pro 12 Suite, and I don't want to give up the "Suite" part by upgrading to regular Vegas 13 Pro.

I wonder if MAGIX plans to offer a Vegas 14 Pro Suite product, and an upgrade path to get there from earlier versions.

Honestly, in some respects I still don't like what Sony did to 13, moving some buttons to the bottom of the timeline and other features. I'll hold my breath for 14 to see what it looks like and what features it has.
I like their XARA photo editor and hope they incorporate the same look and feel it has into VEGAS. I like XARA better than Photoshop.

NormanPCN Thank you for the link. I am away from home now but I am going to take advantage of this offer. In the pass under Sony policy, upgrade cost $149. Well, this offer cost $200 which is $50 more but I got a extra copy of Vegas Pro 13 which is very good deal.

With the exception of this offer from Magix, the current cost to upgrade from any Vegas to Vegas Pro 13 is $249.95 USD. With the exception of this offer from Magix, the current cost to upgrade from any Vegas to Vegas Pro 13 Edit is $199.95 USD.

From time to time, Sony would run special upgrade pricing for a limited time. Also from time to time, online retailers would offer a limited time special upgrade price.

Nonetheless, I think the current pricing from Magix at $200 beats the current price from Sony and includes two versions. I already have VP13, so I'll wait for the release, try the trial copy to assure it functions well on my old desktop, then take whatever upgrade deal they then offer.

For others who are running a previous version to 13, this sounds like a reasonable offer.

By the way the promo is written up, this was my question, and it appears BruceUSA has the answer. This would be a really great deal for anyone on Movie Studio wanting to upgrade, or anyone going from other NLE's to Vegas!

This is a little strange. Members of the x70 camera group on FB have discovered this, and, without ever owning Vegas before have been able to buy not only V13Pro but also the forthcoming V14, for $200.

That's a very attractive proposition for many. No doubt it will increase the Vegas user base, but not put a lot in Magix's coffers. And if "strangers" can get V14 for $200, what can we the faithful expect?
John222 wrote on 7/1/2016, 8:47 PM
I think Magix realizes that the price must come down to bring up their base. Look around Resolve is free and Hitfilm is very competitively priced.

Interesting - I have MS 13 Platinum, but have not received any email from them (yes, it is registered). I did get the upgrade notice for Vegas Pro (I have VP 12 I never installed because of all the complaints - still have 10 installed). Checked the spam folder on Comcast and there were a couple of things caught there, but nothing on MS. Maybe it is still "in the mail" :-)

It's call good business practice. You don't want your loyal customer feeling screwed, especially at a time of transition.
