Problems full screen preview using ext display

I have Movie Studio 11.I use a larger external display with my laptop.I have selected it as my primary display in Windows 10 settings but when I select "video preview on external monitor" part of both Vegas screens (interface and preview) are taken up by a large black area.I've been to options, preferences, display and preview device but don't find the solution in any of the options. In general, without changing any preview device properties, when I work on the larger ext. display and when I press "video preview on external monitor" it goes right over the interface so I can't see what I'm doing. I don't want to put the interface on my laptop because it's too small. Any tips? Thanks

Do you have Windows setup to 'extend' your desktop onto the 2 montors?

If so, have you tried dragging the preview screen to your external monitor? Drag from the docking handle. For more info search help on 'docking'. You can actually save this as a preferred layout (View>Windows Layout>Save Layout as...) I have 1 layout saved as 1 screen and another layout saved when I use dual monitors. With one click, all of my windows are located in the right spots - regardless of the number of monitors that I'm using.

Does that help?

It took me a few minutes to figure out what a docking handle was. That is a big help to my problem. Thanks a lot!

@Markk655 +1, and another +1 for mentioning "search help".
The relevant online Help item even shows a symbol of the handle.
