"While you are waiting for VEGAS Pro 14..."

Former user wrote on 6/27/2016, 2:27 PM
Has anyone decided to take Magix offer of $60 off price of purchase for their flagship website design software Xara Web Designer Premium and build a site or two while they wait for the arrival of Vegas Pro 14? I bought the software at full price just days before the offer hit my email! %^$& man!

The program is extremely intuitive and gives quick professional results whether you have coding skills or not. And yes, people who code and program websites (not just design) still use this software.

@Apple JAX
I've been thinking about purchasing this software.. I got the same (e Offer) from Magix.
I don't have a clue when it comes to having my own website and my own domain.. Or how to use them to my advantage.. I would think it would give my production work a look of legitimacy.
At the special price, I feel like I should get it now and try to learn how to rock it..
I wonder if there will be any kind of intergration with the editing software.
If you or anyone else know of any tutorials on this software that a 7th grade educated person can understand, please post.
PS.. I skipped the sixth grade because I was too old.

I to got the email and took advantage of the offer. Very powerful software and pretty easy to use. I'm designing some test web stuff now to see how it handles SEO (search engine optimization). If people can't find your page it's pretty much useless. I previously took advantage of a Godaddy offer, but it did not include SEO, I would have to upgrade to a package that cost over $100/year . Xara is advertised to include SEO, we shall see. Basically you should be able to create a sitemap.xml file so google can easily index your site, image optimization and be able to title pictures with alt tags.

Thanks for the heads up AppleJax - don't know why I didn't get an email, but I now have the program - looks good!

Unless I'm reading this wrong, the Xara offer isn't just a software purchase offer for the web page editor, it's also a monthly contract for a web site and registered web domain name. I already have a registered domain name and web site that could take advantage of the WYSWYG web page editor. But I don't want to pay for a new web hosting contract.
John222 wrote on 6/28/2016, 11:08 AM
You get a free web hosting domain for a year. Not sure what it is after that. I don't think you have to get a domain thru them. Remember it 30 money back.
Gary James wrote on 6/28/2016, 1:24 PM
From what I read, you have to specifically make sure to cancel the contract or they'll automatically bill you.

Hi,

I tried to find what the domain hosting cost would be after one year. Couldn't find it. Anyone that knows? Spooky if such relevant information is missing...

I've seen horror stories of hosting and registration skyrocketing to highway robbery amounts after the first year. I suspect this probably isn't the case with Magix, since they seem to be a company that prefers long-term customers.

I guess my big question is can i use Xara to create a site on my own web server? I'm hoping it just creates a folder full of all the necessary files, which you may then choose to upload wherever you wish, but it would be nice to know this for sure.
John222 wrote on 6/28/2016, 3:01 PM
This was with my registration...

"Coupon for 12 month free usage of the "Website M"
web hosting package from Xara Online (value: $23.88)"

So I would presume it to be $23.88 per year.

Remember, outfits like Godaddy have webhosting for around $12/yr. But as I said previously you have to make a big step up for SEO at Godaddy..

If your directing people straight to your site, you don't need SEO. However, if you have pictures of rabbits on your web site and you want people searching google images to hit your rabbit pictures on the first page, you need to use SEO.

Are you saying that you can purchase the software but not activate the web site coupon offer? That's what I'd like to do.

Thanks Apple Jax, I didn't get the email but was able to get the deal using your link. I do remember using a trial years ago but this is light years beyond that. It looks like very nice software and at this price, who could pass it up? As well as that we should probably be supportive of our Vegas owners!

Is 2000MB storage enough for business use?
DONDOMOZ wrote on 6/29/2016, 6:54 AM
While I did not get the email, I already have the Xara software. In fact I have been using XARA branded software for many years, even before they sold their product line to MAGIX. I have been very pleased over the years that MAGIX did not only buy the software line, but have constantly upgraded and improved the software. I have nothing but hope for the future of the VEGAS line of products as MAGIX for me has performed very well in the past. No reason to believe they would auto-goal now with Vegas. Looking forward to what they have for us in September.

"Yes, That's exactly whats being said... Hope this helps :)"

Ok, I just purchased and installed Xara 365 Pro. I'll start playing around with it to get a feel for it's features. Off hand, can you tell me if Xara has a Search widget that will let a visitor enter text into an input box, and the tool would display links to all the web site pages that contain the search text? I've been using Microsoft Front Page 2003 since it came out, and it has such a tool. Also, are there any 3rd party developers that make add-in widgets for Xara?
BruceUSA wrote on 6/29/2016, 11:09 AM
Me to. I also purchased it today and installed. But not having time to test it out. I watched the tutorial, seem pretty easy to navigate.

PS. A thumb up to Apple Jax for starting this thread and links. Thank you.

Presumably space can be saved by putting the video on youTube or Vimeo and linking to that on the website.
