also i think many people are content with 13 (or what version they're using at present). alternatively, some (like myself) have looked around again and found alternative nle's or workflows that involve another nle and are just too 'busy' sorting their 'lifeflows' out .-)

i expect the usual kerfuffle as and when 14 debuts....

2001 for me and a SF user since version 3 and Vegas since v1.0 (audio only).
As I recall, some of the (non-audio) terminology Sonic Foundry used in SF-3 was bazaar. In SF 4.5 they used more traditional pro audio terms.

Joined 5/22/2002. Came over from Pinnacle's Studio7, based on a comment on that board about a DV codec (Sonic Foundries) that did not cause degradation over numerous round trips. Vegas3 back in those days.

There is a several-year-old thread on this "join date" subject. I think it grew to be rather long.

I believe that Sonic Foundry Vegas Audio v1.0 was released some time in 2000.

The archives of the Sonic Foundry/SCS forums really need to be preserved, there are close to 730,000 messages. The oldest message in the Sound Forge forum is from February 26, 1999.

Before 2000 for Vegas 1, I think. I think I remember looking at it on a computer at work, at a company I left before the beginning of 2000.
On some other hand... I might be mixing that up with Sound Forge, which I've also used for years and years and years and years.

I've been using Vegas since it was Video Factory. Loved it then, still love it now on Version 13.
First joined the Forum on 26th May 2002 and have been benefiting from/contributing to ever since. I came to Vegas after early work with Media Studio Pro from ULead, then I had a horrible time with Premiere 6 and 6.5 which were tantalising, clumsy to use and suffered from frequent irreversible crashes. Vegas was like a breath of fresh air once I got my head around the way it works. Vegas was always extremely stable and playback of all sorts of formats was a breeze. Versions 10 and 11 had serious issues (such as the infamous reverting of all titles to SAMPLE TEXT).

I'm seriously hopeful that the switch to Magix will be seamless and beneficial to all of us. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I have used Xara Design Pro for years and absolutely love it. Magix seems to handle it really well and I hope the same will apply to Vegas.
