CHANGING FORMAT OF TITLES

JohnJ wrote on 6/22/2016, 10:47 AM
Hello,
I have created a static title using Legacy Text (Default Text) and I would like to convert it to Scrolling on Transparent. As this is another new step into the unknown for me, would someone be kind enough to advise me how to do this, please?
Thanks,
JohnJ

I use Placement for Scrolling.

Well there's a scrolling pre-set in the older Vegas titler, or you could just animate the pan/crop to move it.

And to change the background from solid to transparent, in the Text Properties dialogue, change the Preset from Solid Background to Default Text.

Thank you both. I can now understand how to create a credit roll but I am unable to convert an existing static title. Perhaps it can't be done. I have no formal training in this and as it is my retirement project I would be grateful for any further advice.
Thanks

How have you had success so far? You could always copy/paste your existing text into a scrolling template? Or use Pan/Crop to animate your existing text. Do you know how to do this? if not I'll run you through it.

JohnJ, as Grazie said above, just use the placement tab in the basic titler. I've done it several times and it works like a charm :)
Figure out how long you want your roll to take and set the length in the titler Duration box accordingly.
Click the Animate button to bring up the timeline.
A keyframe is automatically created at the beginning position.
Switch to the Placement tab and drag the text box down until it's just off the bottom of the screen. Set the X value to 0 after you do this.
Now go to your last frame. Change to value in the Y window to a negative value by entering a - (minus) in front of the value already there.
Now exit and play it to make sure that it rolls the way you want.
Feel free to go back in and change any of the values to get it to behave the way you want it to.
The beauty of doing it this way is that you can use keyframes to make it pause or do anything else you want it to.
Play and have fun with it.
