Subject:Missing PITCH SHIFT--please tell me why

Can't seem to find an answer to this, and I really would appreciate one. I had to upgrade to Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 in order to use it on my new machine with Windows 10. Frankly, I am an amateur working with audio files, so I don't use many of the features. I just do the basics and the most important one for me is PITCH SHIFT. It's what I use to change the key of backing tracks for our church soloists. It was on the menu of Sony Sound Forge 8.0 under Effects>Pitch>Shift. I just cannot fathom how the Effects Menu of the newer version would omit such a key feature (you should pardon the pun). Now all I have is Pitch Bend. I would be greatly relieved to figure out how to perform this very basic function. It is even specifically mentioned in the Sound Forge Audio Studio Quick Start Guide (p.25) ... to wit..."These functions include Insert Silence, Resample, Time Stretch, Pitch Bend, and Pitch Shift."

Don't know about AS10, but in SF Pro10, it is in the "Effects" menu, the two Pitch sub menu options are 'Shift and Bend' (this may vary some with AS10).

Thanks for the suggestion, but there are no submenu options for Pitch on the Effects menu. There is only "Pitch Bend." It makes no sense to me, since the feature is present in SF 8, and I would still be using SF 8 if it would run on my Windows 10 computer. I realize SF Pro is a much more expensive program than Audio Studio, but changing the pitch/key of a sound file doesn't seem all that sophisticated an option.

The manual is for all versions of Sound Forge. There have been complaints before about some features NOT being marked in the manual as not existing in the Studio version.

Play around with Pitch Bend. You can have the starting and ending change be the same. Between that and resampling you can probably accomplish any shifting you need.

Actually convincing pitch shift is one of the more difficult things to achieve; SF Pro includes the excellent "élastique Pro timestretch and pitch shift plug-in" as is detailed in the comparison between SF AS10 & SF Pro11, at http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/audiostudio/compare.

But maybe Pitch Bend in SF AS is adequate for your purposes - have you tried selecting whole file, opening Pitch Bend & using the "Reset Envelope" button, then manually lifting/lowering the node at each end of the picture to make a constant altered pitch line from beginning to end ....?

Thanks for the suggestions. I am truly at the amateur end of the technical proficiency spectrum when it comes to this program. I'll see what I can do with pitch bend.

If you right-mouse-button click on the node at the end it disappears. Then you only have to move the first one and don't need to worry about the end matching.
