Hi Everybody,

I just got into this game. Here's my set up...

I'm running a DA-88 into my PC with Windodws XP, working with Soundforge and Cubase.
(I waited for the new Tascam driver before I even bought a computer and the Tascam pci822.) Anyone have a similar setup?

Here's one question...

I record sound in digitally into SoundForge and Cubase, (either SPDIF or TDIF)but I can't seem to be able to monitor it live at all. Not through the 822 OR my Soundblaster card. Shouldn't I be able to?

It WILL play back through the Soundblaster but I can't get it out digitally. (I know to choose where the output is supposed to go, unless there's something else I need to do.)
I'm REALLY new to all this, but I don't think my setup is all that complicated.

What do you think I'm missing? Is this someting with SoundForge or Cubase, or my Tascam PCI 822 card? (Noone has answered me yet at Tascam's site.)

What do you Think?

Zuke

The only thing on SF I can think of is to make sure you have the "Monitor" box checked on the SF "Record" window. Also go to "Options" "Preference" "Wave" and select the same sound card for recording and playback. There may be is some kind of monitor fuction setting in the Tascam sound-card driver too.

Ok,

I found out that my SONY DAT machine had to be turned on last or turned off and on again in order for it to recognize the signal coming from coax.

I'm sure I'm not done with problems yet, Soundforge MIGHT be working OK, but Cubase is recording TERRIBLY, very distorted.

Thanks
