Yes, seen that and it would work, but a bit manually intensive for what I need. But, probably not anymore than the other options I have. And, I'm probably the only Vegas user on the planet that would want such a feature!!!! It's not a big issue at all, just thought I would ask to alleviate a very small gripe, that really isn't worth the explanation.

If you select the Timeline Tools Track Tools & Options tab. Then scroll down through the list of options until you see the Show Event Media Path option. Check it, then switch back to the Track Event Info tab.



When you switch back you'll see a new column in the grid. Hover your mouse over the media take of interest and the full path and filename will be displayed.

I also think that is a good request because I sometimes have the same clip name but with a different file extension; clip001.mxf vs clip001.mp4 for example. Including the whole file path can be tricky as it could be a very long string that would cluster the timeline.

If the OP wants to see the filename extension included with the base filename in the Vegas timeline, the answer is NO. This is not an option. I agree it would be a worthwhile addition to Vegas. What I showed was simply that Timeline Tools offers a work around to the Vegas limitation. You can keep the full path column narrowed in the grid, and hover the mouse to see the full name. Or you can display the full column width and see the entire path. If the Timeline Tools Vegas Cursor tracks the selected Event table item option is selected, The Timeline Tools Main display grid and Vegas timeline automatically track each other. Clicking on an Event in the Vegas timeline scrolls that Event into view in the grid allowing you to review the media name and extension. Likewise clicking an Event in the Main display grid scrolls the associated Event in the Vegas timeline into view.

So, we are getting convergence of workflow - good!

In Vegas Right Click on the Take and select "Select In Project Media List" that gets me the PATH and the SUFFIX.

That works ... sort of. It would be nice if there was an option to make this happen automatically. Currently, you have to do the right-click and select menu item operation for each Media clip you want to review.

And that's how I've understood that our colleague here wants: Having the Event front and centre to interrogate that EVENT for this SUFFIX and this PATH at the Timeline, for just THAT Event and not having too and not needing a LIST to trawl through.

When I read videoITguy reply, he wrote "Timeline Tools" and for some reason I read "Timeline Tool Bar". Of course there is nothing in the Timeline tool bar for this. That should have been enough for me to reread his reply and discover I misread.

I do have Timeline Tools installed although I haven't used it for months and also haven't explored it fully. Although your method is an optional work around, I appreciate you taking the time to point it out and that has encouraged me to spend some time getting to know better the options in Timeline Tools.

The other two workarounds I have used before posting the question are, right click event > 'Select in project media'. This selects and highlights the source media in the 'Project Media' bin, which displays the file name with extension. If there are many sources in the bin, this then may require scrolling through to find the highlighted media. The other is right click on the event > 'Properties' > 'Media' tab > 'File name:', then because usually the path is long, the display window shows some of the path but not the file name > click on the displayed path > 'End' key, to display the name and extension.

So, as Gary points out, it appears the answer to my question is NO, but at least, with the reply from OldSmoke and Gary James, I don't feel like a lone sole anymore wanting this feature!!

Gary, in your tools, does your list of Events, highlight the Event selected?

Yes. As I said, if the option I mentioned is checked, then clicking the Event in the Vegas timeline causes the Timeline Tools Main display grid to automatically scroll that Event entry into view in the grid and select it. It also operates in reverse. If you click on the Event entry in the Timeline Tools Main display grid, it centers that Event in the Vegas timeline with the Vegas cursor positioned over the center of the Event.

Ah, I see.

I have to go to then further choose from ONE of those highlighted TAKES in your list. I thought you were saying that choosing the TAKE - which is what the OP was asking for - then this would be revealed/highlighted.

OK, this is not quite the same as the Right Click Select in Project Media. Using the VP Method I can see a Take, say Take6 out of 9 takes, right click and then I can go directly to this Take6 WITH the PATH revealed.
