Using Sound Forge 9 on a Windows 7 machine. I do not have iTunes/Quick Time installed and I don't want it just to open m4a files. Is there a way to point Forge to the correct codec to open these files? Other programs are able to open them with the current setup, just not my version of Sound Forge. I know in the past, having iTunes installed allowed Forge to recognize m4a files. Suggestions other than a newer version of Sound Forge? |

M4A is an MP4 (AAC) file. I believe SF needs QT installed to open it (not sure about SF9 though) and It may be necessary to change the extension to <.mp4> on older versions of SF. Alternately, there are many on-line and downloadable converters available. Convert it to WAVE or other here on-line, if you don't want to install QT.
