But they already have Samplitude which I have recommended in the past as an alternative to ACID.

So for ACID users it may not mean much. Samplitude is pretty much the best DAW you can buy, so not sure why anybody would consider anything else.

Presumably Sony will continue to licence their produvtion music etc. How will that sit with the ACID loops, I wonder?

I dunno. While I'm glad that the line (maybe) will live on, there's like this big gaping hole since Peter left. (And since Magix already has a DAW, where does ACID fit in all this?)

As a former Acid Pro 7 user and present Samplitude Pro X2 Suite user, I am interested to see what the future holds for both applications.

But...I don't see any mention of them doing anything with ACID? (Just Vegas.) I mean, I know they bought it, but does that mean they're going to do anything with it?

It'd be great, for sure, if ACID Pro was resurrected. I've tried other DAWs in the meantime and I'm just flummoxed. The problem lies with the fact that Peter was instrumental in ACID's development and he's gone. :(

Considering how much Acid Pro was left to languish and how Sony just concentrated on the home user line, I think this will be a great thing. Magix has kept their stuff up to date and are constantly adding things to their whole line of products. I still use Sound Forge a lot. Wouldn't mind if Acid Pro got the attention it deserved.

@iacobus...
i also read all that and saw nothing about AP. As everyone knows, for far too long scs seemingly ignored all the interest displayed here. However, I finally went through the intensive transition to Cubase, happily, and the quality of my projects has dramatically increased. For AP, Magix will have to pull off some "magic" to remotely interest me in doing anything with it ever again.

And i wonder if you-know-what will be renamed....magixplanet.com. The domain's available, they better snag it quick!

I'm a doubting Thomas on this. They may just change the GUI and that's about it so it doesn't say Sony anymore. While Acid could use a 64bit upgrade, a testament to how good this app was developed is that it works on W10 without any updates.

Having tried Samplitude, there are some aspects of ACID that could be integrated into Samplitude. Setting project key for one. ACID Pro's integration of the Mackie MCU and Extender is better then Samplitude's. Samplitudes recognition of which faders are touched and highlighting that track are great, but I had some reall problems with writing automation from time to time.
Samplitude, although a great program, has a user interface that is cluttered and not particularly friendly, large learning curve, where ACID is much more streamlined.

Well MAGIX does have other products that do looping if they can just continue development on ACID, I can see it being a good thing. I've used MAGIX stuff before and it's not bad... This might take them to the "next level". They gain a ton of users too.
