basically I am trying to record from MD onto my hard drive, so I can in turn my MD into a CD. I have been using SoundForge5.0 to do this and whnever I press record on it an error message appears stating The "Soundmax Digital Audio" recording device does not support one or more of the current format parameters (sample rate, number of channels, or bits per sample)

DOes anyone have any clue as to what i do here ?? Also if there is any way in which I can find the capabilities off my soundcard ?

Any help please !!

I have checked my settings on teh wave tab of soundforge preferences, the volume control panel & the sounds & multimedia option from control panel in Windows

Sounds like you're trying to record too high a bit-depth or have fiddled with such a setting before. (The Soundmax looks like it can only do 16-bit as a maximum bit-depth, for example.) Try using File>New on the menu bar, set to "44,100" and "16-bit", click "OK" and then try recording again.
