Vegas Pro 13 and New BCC 10 for OFX

Thom B wrote on 4/26/2016, 1:46 PM
Can't seem to find anything on BCC 10 and Vegas. I'm getting ready to make the plunge since we only have till April 30 for the 15% upgrade discount. Boris says for Vegas and Resolve is to get the OFX version which is $165. Has anyone installed this, and if so, any problems, suggestions or information pertaining to how they play together?

Now my system is rock solid with BCC9.

BCC 10 is absolutely perfect in Vegas. Its also faster than BCC 9 and with tons
more features.
The only thing is that Mocha Pro is not yet integrated into BCC 10 OFX, but will
do so in the next free update.

I have a stable Vegas 13 setup and just upgraded from BCC 9 to 10. Still rock solid. In doing so I was curious as to options moving forward with Boris if the day comes I move from Vegas. I just received this correspondence from Boris:

1. Does my license allow any OFX host and will Catalyst be supported?
BCC OFX supports Sony Vegas and BlackMagic Resolve currently. Catalyst support s being investigated for the future.
2. If I switch to another host ie Premier, Final Cut, etc, is my license crossgradable? Or do I have to start from scratch?
We offer crossgrade pricing depending on Host application. Currently we offer a cross-grade from OFX to Adobe for $395.00

I feel like I at least have some fair protection if I move over to Adobe or Resolve.

Regards,
tom

Upgraded from BCC9 to BCC10 a week ago. BCC10 is working well within VP13 thus far - in fact, the timeline seems to flow more smoothly with BCC10 transitions and effects. I'm liking the new BCC Light Leaks plugin.

However, I have found that the default text that opens in the BCC Title Studio plugin is missing two of the text tabs (color fill and drop shadow) under Control whereas all four tabs appear with the default text when opening BCC Title Studio as a standalone. I've contacted Boris about this but have not as yet heard back. Since emailing Boris, I have found a workaround for the plugin which is to simply delete the default text that appears on opening the plugin, and then just creating a new text event - all four text tabs then appear under Control.

Thank you all. That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I am upgrading now.

Yes BBC 10 works fine here.

Just to comment about Catalyst Edit: I have seen some crashes with BBC10 in Edit, and officially Edit does not support BBC10 up to now.

BBC10 has a better playback performance then my Boris Red - for sure. But the playback performance of BBC10 is even weaker then Hitfilm - Hitfilm is really good in Vegas. And Hitfilm is also supported in Edit officially.

But as said, I have also purchased the BCC10 upgrade for Vegas coming from Boris Red (what can be used for the upgrade price too). And up to now mocha is not available in the OFX version - but that will come in the future.

Brought this from another forum page, I posted it on April 20.

Yes, BCC 10 is out and I received my update yesterday and have been working with it ever since, in my "spare" time. Looks like things are working even better than BCC 9 and the new plugins are great. Have been watching and hoping that Sony would keep up with Vegas Pro, but am not sure what to think. For right now things are working, even though I am running on an HP laptop, I5, 2GB Geforce video and Portuguese Windows 10. Haven't had a lot of problems. Mostly shoot outdoors video in Africa and multicam for education, in classroom.

To come back to the playback performance - I have to state that I am talking here about UHD 25p files from my GH4, where I see a weaker of BCC10 performance compared with Hitfilm. If you are editing HD, then this is not so much an issue maybe.

Problem right off the get go for me. After downloading and installing BCC10 Vegas Pro 13 cannot load the library. Big red X and that annoying bad buzzer... Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Steve Rhoden, as far I understand, Mocha is already integrated in the OFX version, but not availble yet in the Pixel Chooser... am I right, or I am missing something?

Sorry, I am wrong. I confused between the built in tracker in BBC 10 and with Mocha.

Thankyou Black Magic for using OFX in Resolve. I don't believe that Boris FX would have done an OFX version of BCC10 for Vegas alone since it is no longer being developed.
