after purchasing Sony Movie studio 13 platinum near Christmas time. i felt like it was time to upgrade and go for Vegas. Once it had installed and i had gone through it. ashamed would be an understatement. i felt like i had been scammed as it was extremely similar and i felt like i had just spent £350 just to get some more effects and having to pay an extra £200 just to get a beat reactor. that was the main thing i wanted in this, and when finding out i had to pay more money. i felt like i had wasted my money for no reason. Movie Studio was amazing. all i did was buy extra effects and the cursor moves slower is not as precise on the timeline and makes awful noises it when trying to get a point right. i would like to know if i could get rid of this feature and reset the timeline cursor to the one in movie studio. also i don't know if i can get a refund after registering the software. i think i might just go get adobe premiere and after effects because at least i don't have to pay tonnes of money just to get some effects. so all in all i am ashamed and disappointed at sony vegas 13. i advise people to go for movie studio instead. because thy are the same minus a few effects.

So Adobe Premier is a low cost alternative Vegas? Last I checked it was $50/month.

The big differences are in the detail. Multicam editing, unlimited audio and video tracks, just to name a few.

Good luck with Premiere!

"Beat Reactor" is the name of a plugin from Boris; different company, different product.

It would be more accurate to state that you will never use the high-level features and controls in Vegas Pro;
to pretend they don't exist just because you made a mistake is nonsense . . .

I see that you joined the forum today and this is your first post, a rant. The purpose of the forum is to provide help and assistance to others who are having problems and asking legitimate questions--not to listen to someone very ill-informed whine about their decision to purchase an upgrade to Vegas Pro. As Eagle Six pointed out, you had a 30 day free trial. Your assertion that Movie Studio and Pro are essentially the same, save a few effects, just demonstrates your complete lack of understanding, as well as your idea that you might go to Adobe since it won't cost you "tonnes" of money. If you have genuine questions--ask them. Otherwise, have a nice day.

Your complaints the8bitrobin, are far from accurate and is unwarranted!
You are basically off on every topic you have whined about... Not gonna bother
pointing them out, others here already have.

yep - i bought a ford instead of a ferrari because they both get me there... oh, you mean to tell me there's more than one gear in a ferrari!?

OP, why don't you just sell your Vegas Pro 13 software on Ebay. You might loose a little money, but at least you will be happy.

Also, exactly why did you upgrade when you were happy with Movie Studio? What were you expecting to get from the upgrade?

AFAIK, you can have both VMS and VP installed on the same PC, so use VMS if that floats your boat, use that and sell VP.
PS- if you purchased VP a short time ago, contact customer service and ask (nicely) for a refund. SCS customer service is usually very accommodating.

I have used Movie Studio and Pro, and you have to need the pro features to warrant the upgrade.

Things like:
32-bit project ranges for 10-bit support
Scopes and meters
Unlimited tracks
Pro-end codec support
There are more...but mainly advanced options.

If you just need simple editing to YouTube and other destinations, Movie Studio will likely work for you.
