media manager error message - Vegas Pro 12 (Win 7)

For over a year, I postponed the installation of the latest Vegas 12 update, as everything was working fine and I was always in the middle of some project. After realizing that I'll always be in the midst of a project, I installed the update.

Soon afterwards, I get "media manager is not installed" error.

The only other change I can think of that might have a bearing on this is that I recently uninstalled Quicktime.

Help would be appreciated!
If the suggestion would be to uninstall and then re-install, my next question is if the application preferences / options would be conserved after an uninstall.

I stand to be corrected but I believe that Media Manager has been a separate download for some time now.

Thanks. I don't recall installing two programs when I initially installed Vegas 12, but I might be wrong. I'll try this.
However, if this is an expected result of the update (Update of 12 over an installed 12), I was expecting to see other complaints about the disappearance of the media manager window in the forum archives.
