Subject:Batch Converter: Wave plugin is invalid?

BC5.0a built 146, on both Windows2000 and WindowsXP has suddenly started losing the Wave file plugin for saving. I open BC, and in the "convert to:" dropdown I pick "Wave (Microsoft)". BC then throws up an error dialog: "The chosen file format plugin could not be loaded and will be removed from the list. The format may not be allowed to be used in the Batch Converter or the plugin should be reinstalled to correct the problem." Now as far as I can tell it's just using quartz.dll as the plugin, which not only works fine with everything else (like SF5), but doesn't make a difference if I deregister and reregister it. I reinstalled BC5 over again and the problem went away, for about a day. Then it came back. Any ideas? |

It's actually using a file called WAVPLUG.DLL. Search for this file, rename it to WAVPLUG.OLD, and then reinstall Batch Converter to replace it. Manually un-reg'ing and then reg'ing the file again would not work if the file is corrupted. Ted |

I've gone around a few times on this and it still isn't working. I have Sound Forge 5.0 installed as well, and have uninstalled both, then just installed batch converter, or installed SF5 first, then installed BC5, or deleted the files, then reinstalled, and each time I get the same error, even though Sound Forge is able to manipulate wav files without a problem. Although I'm not sure if it was doing it before, I've now lost MP3 and Windows Media formats as well. I have to suspect at this point that I've just got some registry corruption somewhere and this problem won't go away until I re-install the whole OS. |

I get the same message with the Real Media plugin. What file am I looking for to replace? |
