Subject:ACID MIDI question.

Hello,
I have found that if there is a midi clip, and I record more midi over it on the same track, it erases the previous midi notes and I play the new ones. Is it possible to make it keep the old ones and I can add more to the same clip?

OR, like like it happens on the audio tracks, when I make a new clip, it is a separate clip that is on top of the old one and I can trim the ends of the two clips so that the old one starts and the new one stops right where i want it and it ends up sounding like one clip.

the way it seems to work with MIDI, when I record over a clip, it erases the previous notes and puts new ones on to the same clip.

thanks for any help with this.

It sounds like the "MIDI Merge Record" option might be what you're looking for?

The icon is in the transport toolbar (along with the Play/Pause/Stop buttons). It looks like a segmented 'V'. Click on that, and as you loop you should be able to add to what you have already. (It's also mentioned on page 192 of the ACID manual.)

thank you, however I do not have that midi merge record icon. I do have a button "midi step record" but thats about it. I also searched the built-in help and does not have anything about midi merge record in it. Regarding page 192 of the manual, I would LOVE to get a manual. the only thing I have is the built-in help. I have tried to find an manual for ACID 10 and have not found one. Even on the Sony page they only have a quickstart guide for ACID 10.

if there is a manual for 10
or
a way to enable this midi merge record on my ACID 10 please let me know how ! thanks!

i just read somewhere that midi merge is only available on the Pro version?!? that would be lame... all that does is force me to make lots more tracks

Hmm, maybe it is a Pro-only thing.

I had a look at the downloads section. You're right. There doesn't seem to be a full manual for Studio 10. Although I guess you could download the manual for Pro 7 nonetheless.
