Subject:SF10 cannot find CD burner in Windows 10

On a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Sound Forge Pro 10 fails to find my LG WH12LSK39 CD/DVD/BD burner. The LG burner is visible in Device Manager, and also in Windows Explorer. Other programs can see it just fine, but it remains invisible to all of my Sony software (including the latest versions of CD Architect and DVD Architect). This was never an issue with Windows 7. How can I force Sound Forge to recognize my CD burner?

Hello,

Not sure if this will help, but using Goggle I came across this article:

http://www.troublefixers.org/windows/fix-cddvd-drive-not-detected-or-working-in-windows-10/624/

Hopefully this will work for you as I do not have a Windows 10 system to check. The "Other" option is to reboot your system, make sure nothing else is running and then reinstall SF10 to see if maybe something went missing during the initial install of Sound Forge. But... Since you mentioned that none of the Sony software is detecting the drive, I have a feeling it is more related to Windows 10 and possibly its drivers than more of a Sony issue.

There was a similar problem many years ago. Posting in case it is still relevant

Now that Others have reminded me about the ASPI layer, I found this website back in 2013 and confirmed that the FrogASPI worked for me and SIREN Jukebox issue that I was having with Windows 7 x64.

The Website to read about the Frog ASPI layer is here: http://wp.xin.at/archives/829

Hopefully you will get this ASPI layer working but If I remember correctly I thought all SONY products were moving away from ASPI layer and going to the SPTI directly instead?

Good Luck.

Thanks for the information about the ASPI layer. It's interesting that the only software which fails to see my Blu-ray burner is Sony Creative Software.

I found some old forum posts about this issue, but I was hesitant to install anything that could possibly muck up my Windows 10 installation. I ended up purchasing a new LG Blu-ray writer (BH16NS40) that is certified for Windows 10. That hardware my Sony software has no trouble recognizing.
