How about the Waves Apex Vintage Aural Exciter plug-in? It should sound just like the original.

Waves has sales all of the time so I'd wait for it to go on sale for $99. I don't think I've ever paid full price for a Waves plug-ins. They run sales every month, you just have to wait for the plug-in you want to come around.
