Yep, bit of a shock. I wasn't expecting that...as the song goes. Saw him once in his Aladin Sane era. Amazing. And he got BETTER after that! :-(

I hadn't planned on crying this morning, gents . . .

Indeed, mv10. Things like this usually pass with a few nostalgic thoughts, but when I heard the news, I put on Is There Life on Mars and shed a good many tears.

For those of you fortunate enough to be living in or near London, England.
Join a David Bowie party in Brixton tonight to celebrate the life of a genius

One of the pillars of my life that I never gave as much attention to as I should have. Thought he'd always be there and now he isn't.

The man was pure genius. My only regret was never seeing him perform. I did play much of his music in my younger days. RIP Rebel Rebel

Great performer. I worked on the Glass Spider Tour in Australia in a TV capacity.

Talking of stars:

Einen Stern der deinen Namen trägt
Hoch am Himmelszelt
Den schenk’ ich dir heut’ Nacht
Einen Stern der deinen Namen trägt
Alle Zeiten überlebt
Und über uns’re Liebe wacht

Nik P.

Not quite appropriate perhaps, but if the only tool you have is a hammer, then the whole world looks like a nail.

I got to see him live way back in 1974. Transition period from Glam to Thin White Duke.
And around that same time, "Diamond Dogs" messed with me enough that it became one of the stranger influences on my life. I will miss David Bowie.

"Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong".

Had just opened a bottle of Moet for my partner's birthday when heard the news. Promptly needed to pop another cork (less exotic) and spent the rest of the evening bouncing around the lounge with the stereo up quite loud, looking through smeary eyeglasses.....

At first I thought this was a tribute recorded this week, but it was actually released a couple of years ago. It's wonderful nonetheless.
