A while back i posted an issue with midi exports dropping notes. Tried all kinds of stuff but finally, today, found a partial solution. Hopefully it will help you guys as well and further users experience can be included. Working strictly in midi mode (no pcm in timeline) i create patterns which are then copied/pasted/pitch shifted using +/- on specific clips. Checking the help file in ap7e i caught something about joining files. I've joined files before but this is not a common practice in my arranging. That's the answer to the dropped notes issue but only partially. What it also says is that if joining is expected to work with key changes on a track a key should be assigned to the clips/project. But, again, i don't work this way as midi key assignments, imo, are not as important as when working with pcm loops. These clips are also one shots. I did change them to loops with a key assigned but that didn't work. So my midi projects are keyless and assigning a key after the fact is ineffective. When a clip is joined with an adjacent clip that has a pitch adjustment, after joining, the second clip is automatically transposed to its original key. My goal is to affect my projects with joining so as to negate dropped notes with as little editing as possible. A work around is more editing...which, with the number of files involved, is daunting. Another observation: when i use a chord e.g. with long tails for manual sustain and that same chord is used in multiple locations being shortened and pitch shifted and next to it is placed another pattern, its length will cause notes to drop on the adjacent clip in an exported midi file. But dropped notes are not exclusive to this scenario. In any case, to me, this seems a defect in the programming of AP7e. Certainly sony would've considered users methods would vary. Is there anyone who works similarly that's seen this behavior? Peter, could you shed some light on key assignment in midi-only projects and note lengths affecting other clips on the time line? |

I haven't experienced the dropped midi notes in the same way as you. For me it's the entire midi track that'll stop producing sounds/triggerd sounds. After restart it works. I'll keep an eye on your post however as I'm beginning to utilize midi more and more. |
